Your books, your invoices, and a SARS return that shows its working.

Ledgr keeps South African books in rands and prepares the SARS returns from them — every figure traceable to the entry it came from.

Most bookkeeping software sold here was built somewhere else and translated afterwards. SARS boxes were added to a foreign shape. We started from the return.

The result is that the numbers on your VAT201 are not retyped from a report — they are the journal, summed. When a figure looks wrong you can open it and see the invoices underneath.

What you get in South Africa

SARS returns, prepared from your own journal

VAT201, EMP201, EMP501, IRP6, ITR12, ITR14 — built from the postings, box by box, with the working shown beside each figure so you can check it before it goes anywhere.

A travel logbook SARS will accept

Trips recorded in the shape section 8(1)(b) asks for — opening and closing readings, business against private — captured as you drive rather than reconstructed in a panic.

Payroll with the South African instruments

PAYE, UIF and SDL, on monthly, fortnightly or weekly cycles, with payslips your staff can actually read and an e@syFile export at year end.

Invoices that chase themselves

Send an invoice in ZAR and we follow up when it goes unpaid — with a record of every reminder, so you know what was said and when.

Snap the slip, keep the slip

Photograph a receipt and the expense is captured with the image attached to it permanently. The paper can fade; the record does not.

Books that tie out

Every invoice, payment and expense lands in a double-entry journal. The totals you show a bank, a lender or an accountant agree with each other, because they are computed from the same postings.

Your whole money life, not just the business

A salary, a side hustle, a rental, a stokvel — each is its own stream, kept apart where it must be and added up where it should be.

We prepare the return. You file it.

Nothing here is submitted to SARS on your behalf. We build the return from your books and show the working behind every figure, so what you file is something you have read and agreed with — never something a piece of software sent while you were not looking.

Where else we are

Every figure comes from your own records, double-entry, with the working shown. We don’t guess at tax law — Ledgr keeps the books and shows you how each number was reached, so you and your accountant are looking at the same thing.
