Books in pula, and a BURS return built from them.
Bala keeps Botswana books in pula and prepares the BURS returns — not a South African product with the currency swapped.
Already have an account? Sign in
Botswana is usually an afterthought: a rand product with pula bolted on, still quietly applying South African rules. UIF and SDL are South African instruments and Botswana has neither — so a return that carries them is wrong before you start.
We keep the two apart in the software itself. A Botswana employer declaration declares PAYE, because that is what BURS asks for.
What you get in Botswana
BURS returns, prepared from your own journal
VAT 002.1, PAYE return, QPT, SAT 004, ITA 20 — built from the postings with the working shown, so the figure you sign for is one you can trace.
Botswana payroll, not borrowed payroll
PAYE on monthly, fortnightly or weekly cycles. No UIF and no SDL, because they do not exist here and a nil box for a tax that has no equivalent would only confuse.
Self-assessment tax handled as its own thing
SAT is treated as the Botswana instrument it is, alongside the quarterly payments, rather than being squeezed into a provisional-tax shape borrowed from elsewhere.
Invoices that chase themselves
Send an invoice in BWP and we follow up when it goes unpaid — with a record of every reminder, so you know what was said and when.
Snap the slip, keep the slip
Photograph a receipt and the expense is captured with the image attached to it permanently. The paper can fade; the record does not.
Books that tie out
Every invoice, payment and expense lands in a double-entry journal. The totals you show a bank, a lender or an accountant agree with each other, because they are computed from the same postings.
Your whole money life, not just the business
A salary, a side hustle, a rental, a stokvel — each is its own stream, kept apart where it must be and added up where it should be.
We prepare the return. You file it.
Nothing here is submitted to BURS on your behalf. We build the return from your books and show the working behind every figure, so what you file is something you have read and agreed with — never something a piece of software sent while you were not looking.
Where else we are
Every figure comes from your own records, double-entry, with the working shown. We don’t guess at tax law — Ledgr keeps the books and shows you how each number was reached, so you and your accountant are looking at the same thing.
